Easy wood project to make a crayon organizer?

Hi, I'm looking for tips/plans/pictures of a easy wooden crayon holder/organizer for boy scouts. I've seen some really easy ones from scrap wood a long time ago and can't locate any. No need for fancy animal shaped one.

Any info would help.

  1. I would think the EASIEST would be a chunk of 2"x4" run under a drill press to provide holes for the crayons.

Next would be a chuck of wood with routed grooves to hold crayons.

Interesting project though... the link the first answerer gave you had some other nice looking projects.

    GOOD LUCK

  3. How about colored popsicle sticks?

Last week me and my little one made 2 boxes each and i started a fruit bowl all with i pack of colored popsicle sticks from the Dollar Tree. I think there was over 140 stick for a buck. this project needs about 25 - 30 sticks per child.

Base - Lay out enough sticks so the width of sticks is equal to the length of one. Have the little guys glue one or two sticks to the onces laid out.

Sides - Than have them glue the sides of 2 or 3 sticks together depending on how high you wanna make it. (x4)

Top - Do the same as the base but make it one stick longer

When that is all dried then have them glue th sides to base. and they are all done.

It will hold lose crayons or even  the whole box

My daughter is 6 and was able to handle making boxs with slits (which i don't think would be good for crayons) So i think this is a good project for guys 5 - 8 anything older would not be too interested in this (at least what i think)

This involves no drilling, cutting or anything like that on your part. It also saves on your prep time. i'm guessing they are small because big guys don't use crayons.
