Eating Out vs. Being healthy. (10pts!)?

Heres the scoop:

My boyfriend and I don't see each other very often. When we do we like to go out to dinner and engorge ourselfs and its SO much fun!

Well, I'm a ways into a new diet lifestyle change and I don't want to do that. Food is very very tempting for me and I don't want to break at a resturant (even one time) because I know myself well enough that I will probibly not beable to go back to eating healthy.

But I don't want to disapoint my boyfriend who enjoys himself with me when we go out. Guys: you know what I mean? When you go out with a girl and you feel guilty because you got the sirloin and she got a salad?

How can I stick to my diet but avoid becoming the "salad girl" Which my boyfriend and I absolutly dread. What do I order so I can eat right and he can not feel like he has to also just because of me.

If it helps, some place we like to go are: Outback, Hops, O'charleys, and lots of fast food places including chickfila, tacobell, and bojangles.

Thanks!!

  1. If you're eating low carb, you can eat lots, meat, salad, cheese... you can live it up!

  2. i know what u mean, ive been there and got fat lols! try to avoid fryed food like fries, as much as u think it looks good. try something like grilled chicken breast they are more healthy with green vegetables, and for drinks try orange juice or tea, avoid all the sodas and beer and alcohols they make ur belly fat lols. in general try to order plates that are grilled and less portion =) as far as tacobell i cant help u cuz everything is fat there lols

  3. Being healthy. I don't eat beef and pork. Everything else seems good if you eat out. Chicken and fish. brown rice all the vegetables. Barley, wheat, 12 grains some organic Cereals. Green tea. Steamed vegetables You should not need vitamins if done right. Cut down on all processed foods. Cut down on caffeine. Drink hole juices like V8 or make it. Forgot to mention dairy products are important for protean so are beans.

  4. Honestly being a "Salad Girl" is not as healthy as you might think. Salads at restaurants have HUGE portions, and most include things like cheese, fried chicken, bacon, and a ridiculous amount of dressing. It all adds up. The full size oriental chicken salad at Applebees with the 4 ounces of dressing that comes with it (and most people ask for more) is equivalent to a Big Mac, fries and coke.

If you want to eat healthy when going out here are some rules to follow:

    1. Pick lean meat, like chicken that is grilled not fried.

    2. Skip the soda, water is great for you are not consuming calories!

    3. Try veggies instead of fries

    4. Look up the menu before you go and choose what you want before hand. Dont even look at the menu when you get there, it will just tempt you.

    5. Don't be afraid to ask for modifications - ie. light mayo, dressing on the side etc. that way you can control how much you're eating.

    6. Ask for a box before you start to eat and put 1/2 of your food in it to take home. Restaurants serve HUGE portions.

  5. Before you go to a restaurant, look em up online and look at the their nutrition menu. Pick a calorie limit (let's say...400) and find stuff on their list below that number. Order that instead of a salad.

If for some reason you can't do that beforehand, some restaurants will have a "healthy" section on their menus where they list the calories of a few foods. Order stuff from that. Or, at the restaurant ask if they have a nutritional chart they can let you look at.
