  1. Garlic capsules are better.. Garlic doesn't do much if it isn't heated. But don't take garlic if you are getting surgery, it thinks the blood, but it is a natural antibiotic. Works great if you have an infected tooth or other type of infection.

  2. Yes, raw garlic in it's fresh and natural form is a very powerfull natural antiobiotic......  eat other foods too that are natural antiobiotics  ~ onions, leeks, shallots, radishes, fenugree, fresh gingerroot, chilli and plenty of raw salads and fruits and their juices......... ifyou find it difficult to eat hot spicy things try eating them with plenty of food and even small amounts of these things can help to expel infected mucous from your body....... try grating raw garlic or expelling its juice in a garlic press or chop it into tiny pieces and mix through cooked foods and salads thus a little easier to tolerate...... or add some fresh garlic juice to your vegetable juice cocktail.......... raw garlic and other plants from the onion family are superb powerful naturall antiobiotics and can help to eradicate and control infections from any part of the body.... even in cases where there is resistance to antiobiotic drugs....if you absolutely hate raw garlic and its odor then you can use the garlic capsules which aren't as effective.

Also to combat infection naturally, take Olive leaf Extract (500mg) capsules, one capsule, two or three times daily just before food, or you can get it in a liquid form ..... children can take olive leaf Elixir..... Olive leaf extract has been used as a natural antiotiobic for thousand years, but is only recently that scientific research has shown that its active ingredient oleuropein, has the ability to fight a broad range of infective microorganisms.... Oleuropein has been found to be effective in fighting bacteria, fungi, yeasts, parasites and viruses in laboratory studies.

  5. Garlic has many medicinal properties. Apart from the fact that it is antibiotic, it is both antifungal and antibacterial. It promotes the production of white blood cells and thus acts as a powerful immune booster. Garlic does indeed have scientifically-proven medicinal properties.  It contains a substance called Allicin, which has anti-bacterial properties that are equivalent to a weak penicillin.

Garlic appears to have anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties.  The list is long when it comes to its uses as a remedy.  This list includes wounds, ulcers, skin infections, flu, athlete's foot, some viruses, strep, worms, respiratory ailments, high blood pressure, blood thinning, cancer of the stomach, colic, colds, kidney problems, bladder problems, and ear aches, to name a few.

For most internal problems, eating garlic raw is probably the most potent way to take it.  However, due to the obvious lingering odors associated with this, a tincture can be made by soaking 1/4 pound of peeled and separated garlic cloves in 1/2 quart of brandy.  Seal tightly and shake every day.  Strain and bottle after two weeks of this, and take in drops - 25-30 a day, if desired.

For cough, flu, and respiratory ailments, make a cough syrup out of garlic.  Slice 1 pound of fresh garlic and pour one quart of boiling water over it.  Let sit for 12 hours, then add sugar until you reach the consistency of a syrup.  Add honey for better taste, if desired.

For sore throat, make a garlic tea by steeping several cloves of garlic in half a cup of water overnight. Hold your nose and drink it.

Externally, garlic is a known anti-bacterial and anti-infection agent.  An interesting use for ear aches is to slice a garlic clove, heat briefly in a small amount of virgin olive oil, and let cool.  Then use a drop of two in the affected ear (strain the mixture beforehand, of course).

Here in India, we eat raw garlic one or 2 cloves, early in the morning without brushing teeth to help reduce cholesterol. Leave about half hour before normal chores.
