Question:

Eating and/or drinking after a car accident?

So me and my friends just got hit by a car today in a parking lot. No severe injuries, just a couple of bruises, and my shoelace broke. One of the witnesses told us not to drink or eat for 8 hours because it may make us deaf? Is this true?

  1. No

  2. Thankfully you don't seem severely injured!  I'm not aware of that to be the case about not eating or drinking after an accident but would suggest at least getting checked out by a doctor (if not, the ER).  One may be more sore a day from now and feel as though can benefit from physical therapy which would require documentation to help insure that those medical bills get paid.  Please remember to report the incident to the cops if not done already and the insurance company as those that say that payment will be done on a personal basis, may not follow through.  Feel better soon!

  3. No, it won't make you deaf. It may cause a sharp pain on swallowing if there's a sternal contusion (blood sack on/around the breastbone due to the seatbelt's force).

  4. I don't see how that will make you deaf, but what do I know...

If you're unsure, check with a doctor. You'll be able to find out what's safe to do and what isn't safe to do.

  5. No it is not true.......

  6. I just think one of the witnesses were just a weirdo. Nothing happened other than  couple of bruises. I dont see y u couldnt.
