Question:

Eating dirt?

I watched a programme on television last night where foreign workers were making sandwiches for supermarkets.

Picking food from the floor, where it had fallen, as well as from dustbins, not washing hands when using the toilet, giggling about the inferior quality of the food, putting rat poison on the same shelves as the food, was all a normal part of the operation.

The manager of the factory claimed he 'would not eat' the sandwiches they manufactured.

Would you continue to eat supermarket sandwiches?

  1. Not anymore.

  2. No and have not for a long time. I really dont trust fast food either. Your best bet is to fix it your self.

  3. No supermarket sandwiches, ever!!

  4. well i've eaten things off the ground.

i dont care that much about dirt.

but not washing your hands after going to the washroom then preparing food is a little over the line for me.

  5. Meh. I don't really care. A little dirt never hurt anyone. But thats just me I mean I know whats really in McDonalds hamburgers but I eat them anyway

  6. it does not taste good

  7. lol... i don't think i have ever eaten one, really...

  8. No I wouldn't, but I don't believe my sandwiches are manufactured that way.

  9. I wouldn't!!

  10. ... thanks for that distrubing question...which i will awnser with a big fat NO....i was hungry but you seemed to solved that.

  11. ewww gross, no.

  12. That's disgusting...how can people do that to other people?  It's like they have no soul.

  13. thats disgusting! oh well, i never buy them anyway, they're way overpriced for the little piece of S**t you get...

  14. after what you just told me, NO! i could die! and if the worker dude couldnt even eat his own food, well, that business has got a problem!

  15. yuk!!!!

  16. Ya, you'd have to be awful hungry to eat that c**p.  Who knows who's had their hands on it.  And yet there's not a lot of reports of people getting sick from these abuses...  Not sure why.

  17. Did you know there is actually an affliction people have, a craving to eat strange things. The desire to eat dirt is called pica. So I guess a little dirt won`t kill you if eaten in moderation, lol.

  18. Yes if you think too much about it, you would never eat anything served you.  This is the reason they have health inspectors for food places.  It is also the reason restaurants that aren't clean are probably not a good idea to patronize.  If you really want to gag yourself, read George Orwell's "Down and out in Paris and London".

You can buy those factory made sandwiches or whatever from quick shops but I find them kind of disgusting usually.  Better to buy your own bread and your own meat and fix it yourself.   I don't know if you have "Subway" or "Quizno's" in the UK but at least you can watch them preparing the sandwich for you.   My preferred fast food.

  19. No no no!!!

  20. Its too easy to make your own, why buy sandwiched already made?  Plus, the mayo is often nasty.

  21. Let's see some actual sources rather than "programme on television".

  22. in my opinion, yes, as long as it tastes good, i am fine with it.  my mom taught me the belief that trying to protect myself from every germ only deforms my immune system, how else is it supposed to know how to keep me safe?  my mom always let me eat dirt and bugs and stuff like that, and now i hardly ever get sick.  also, the grocery store where i work is very clean, its hard to explain, but we are different, ive watched how it is done, its immaculate.

  23. apparently its not bad bcuz no reports of death. it depends on the store and brand.

  24. A local TV station got health report records from our Board of Health.  Even at the worst places, nothing like that happened.  In our supermarkets, we can see them make the sandwich if we want.  Most people buy the makings, but there are often sandwich lunches and salads available.

  25. God made dirt -- anddirt don't hurt.
