  1. Your newborn eating habits change when s/he is starting a growth spurt. It's normal for them to pick up eating more often then in a week or two go back to their regular schedule.

  2. yes normal my 6 week old eats 4ozs every 3-4 hours, but some days wants 1-2ozs every hour. so without starving your child try to soothe him and wait a little longer that way you can start a schedule

  3. Your baby will eat when he wants to. Just watch his schedule so you can be accustomed to it. His body will grow when it needs to.

  4. yes, a newborn can eat as much as 4 to 5 ounces so let him eat when he wants to.

  5. a 1 month old should be having 3-4 ounces every 3-4 hours if you're bottle feeding. If you're breastfeeding the best thing to do is feed on demand, since you have no way to control how much your baby eats. The 3-4 ounces every 3-4 hours shouldn't be a strict rule, your baby will tell you when he's hungry and will only eat until he's satisfied, but you have to make sure he's not over eating, otherwise he's going to end up with infant obesity which will cause him severe problems on the long run, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or childhood diabetes, just to mention some. Some kids are also comfort eaters. My baby girl is 2 months old and she usually has 5 ounces every 3-4 hours, but sometimes she will only have an ounce every hour, which is  what comfort eaters do and it sounds like your baby is a comfort eater, but don't worry 'cause this usually lasts only a couple of weeks, maybe less.

I hope you find this useful. Good luck! ;)
