10 ANSWERS

  1. why not in asia they eat rat and dogs

  2. guinea pigs are pigs, whats so far fetched about that, a lot of people eat pork

  3. That is a tradition in Peru. People raise them, sell them, and then eat them. Unlike larger animals, the guinea pig is native to the Andes, where it is known as cuy in Spainish, grows quickly and is cheap, making it a staple in many rural communities.

    Hope this helped=)

  4. ok that's just messed up

  5. For the same reason someone would eat chicken or beef, guinea pigs are food there and are called cuy.

  6. I Don't know

  7. For them it is a delicacy.

  8. what

    maybe cause they are wiredos

  9. Guinea pigs, Cavies, or Cuy  were food way before they were ever considered to be kept as pets.  Keeping cavies as pets is very new in human history.

I read an article in a cavy magazine that scientists here in the U.S. are developing what they call a "Super Cavy" that is much larger than what they have in Peru.  They will give these large cavies to poor women in Peru and teach them better husbandry skills so they can breed them (cross them with their own smaller cavies to produce meatier ones) and sell them for food so that these poor women can have a bit of independence, profit, and their families won't starve.  It is a humanitarian project appropriate for their culture.

It's that same as eating chicken or iguana.  It's good and nutritious food.

I'm sure people in other countries think it's odd that we eat loads of unrecognizable lumps of what we call "chicken" from little paper boxes with M's or a clown face on it.  Weird!

  10. I really don't know, its just something they've always done in that country. It seems horrible to us, but in places like India maybe they think its wierd that we eat cows. Cows are worshipped in India
