Well, my family loves eating out but....I am trying not to eat meat for health reasons. I always just feel better when I dont eat meat. I was always eating Tums by the handful, now I am not. Anyway, when we eat out there are no to little options. I dont want to eat a garden salad at every meal either. So I was wondering if any vegetarians (or anyone really) wo could give me some insight on what to order?

  1. chinesse food / veg

  2. The wooden monkey has vegetarian/vegan friendly food, and all the meat is free range.

  3. There is a nice site that tells you what vegetarian options all restaurants have:

    www.terraveg.com

  4. i always try to "think outside the box" of what is on the dinner section of the menu.

for example, the other night we went to a german restaurant and my options were REALLY limited.  i ordered onion bread topped w/ cheese from the appetizer menu, a plate of seasoned mixed veggies, and a baked potato with butter and sour cream.  it was more than filling and gave an escape from the salad or pasta that is the usual option.  there is almost always something on the appetizer list that will work, like artichoke/spinach dip or something.

that said, many main dishes can be made vegetarian by just omitting the meat.  if they offer a wrap, for example, just ask them to hold the chicken and make it a veggie wrap.  restaurants are used to people trying to customize their meals, so don't feel ashamed in asking them to omit an ingredient or two.

try using this website, it's a guide to vegetarian options at restaurants:
