Eating out in dallas?

can anyone recommend a good resteurant in dallas where i can get a meal for under 40 dollars

Any mexican restuarant is ideal for that.  Don't order the margaritas.  There are still some places open in the West End that are fun to be at.  Otherwise, stay out of Oak Cliff (South Dallas). 121 has a load of restuarants, but 30 going west does not.  35 going south doesn't either, but 75 going North does.  There's just too many to name and you didn't give me a flavor to work with.

Maguires ~ home type eclectic type food ~ best Meatloaf EVER

Chaucers ~ $2.00 u call it drinks - Crown & down & 2 for $10 Sushi - your choice (for the most part) Go before 10:00pm unless you just want to party

Shuck n Jives, Au Shucks ~ seafood

Gloria's ~ free black bean dip that is yummy ~ nice beef steak nacho's extremely large portion ~ the other food is a matter of opinion

Try Houston's. They atmosphere is really chilled out and the food is fantastic (chicken, ribs, shrimp, steaks). The last time we were in there Emmitt Smith was there, which doesn't mean anything, but I thought it was cool. You'll really enjoy the food and service.

I have suggestions Abocas in Richardson  Beltline and Central.  Also Mastergrill in Garland in Firewheel Mall.  Both places have websites.
