Eating out? vegetarian ideas??? please help.?

what are some good foods to get when you go out to eat? salads kinda get boring... i also want a good sorce of protein.

  1. you can basicly ask for anything with no meat.

    just tell them NO MEAT.

    or go to a vegetarian restraunt.

    they usually have the BEST food.


  2. Honestly, if you are nice to the waiter, they sometimes will custom order your meal.

    For example, at Applebees, I ordered their Asian party rice dish without the meat. They added some other vegetables, removed the meat, and I STILL got $2 off.

    I find you can make a meal with side dishes too.

    Also, Pinera bread has awesome food for vegetarians.

  3. Eggplant is often available in Italian restaurants.  Mushrooms are avaiable at Whole Foods Take Out etc.  Non meat soups and chinese vegable platters with rice are great. Mexican food usually has spinch enchiladas or quesadillas.  If you don't see anything on a menu, ask the server if he has any vegetarian suggestions besides salad.  Usually they can grill veggies even if it is not on the menu.  But you can usually find something on the appetizer or soup menu.

Alot of restaurants have the veggie burger option now.  Be careful with some foods...alot of soups are made with chicken or beef stock.  It depends on how strong you feel about having this type of animal product in your food. Italian is a great wat to go. Also mexican...bean burritos, cheese quesadillas. Chinese usually has lots of veggie options, and even tofu.  Almost any restaurant will accomodate you if you ask for a dish without the meat. I have been a vegetarian for 10 years and have not been to many restaurants that I have not been able to find something very yummy.  I hate salads too!

A lot of your choices will depend upon whether you're a lacto-ovo vegetarian, plain vegetarian, or vegan.  You can always order pasta with meatless sauces, such as tomato, alfredo, or pesto.  Pasta primavera is good; that's pasta with broccoli, cauliflour and carrots mixed in.  Beans are an excellent protein source, especially when accompanied by rice or pasta dishes.  There are vegetarian pizzas, veggie burgers, and a huge variety of salads if the restaurant has a salad bar.  You can also order breakfast dishes, such as eggs with veggie sausages or fake bacon, pancakes, waffles, fish, if you allow that on your diet.  But like I said, the variety depends on how strict your vegetarian diet is.  There are lots of other dishes made with soy and tofu substitutes for meatless meals.  Good luck and bon appetit!

It's easy to order dishes sans meat!  Some easy choices are Italian restaurants like Olive Garden, where there is a large serving of pasta to offset the absence of meat, or Mexican eateries where you can substitute with beans, rice, or both!  Some good sources of protein are cheese, nuts, beans, and some veggies so scan the menu for these items.  Another idea is to snack on some nuts before or after a meal to keep your protein level in check or take a protein supplement.  Good luck!
