Eating protein bars after working out? ?

i was wondering what protein bars do for you after you get done lifting weights and does it help you from being soar.

If you are soar should you rest a few days or should you stick to your normal every other day work out? thanks in advance

  1. Do not in any case go without eating any other foods!!! eat protein but you need too eat food too like steak and vegies..and the protein does not protect from sorness...stick 2 ur workout but get good night rests and eat a good breakfast!

  4. protein bars are not a good source of protein post workout.  if they are all you have then go for it, but the fats will only slow down absorption.  Buy some whey and consume 40g w/ 80g carbs and no fiber or fat post workout

Protein helps repair your muscles.  Rest is also a major factor in repair, one thing that will help to, is eat some fruit when you're done working out.  This helps increase insulin.  Yes you will be sore, if you are sticking to your routine make sure that you are doing upper body then lower body.  Your muscles need 48-72 hours rest between workouts (depending on the muscle)  It's like picking a scab, if you keep ripping it off it won't heal.

Lack of protein isn't why you get sore (not soar) after a workout.  The reason is lactic acid buildup and just plain muscle damage that is necessary to grow muscles.  For the lactic acid buildup, you need lots of water.  The other type of soreness, from muscle damage, is necessary to achieve bigger muscles, but motrin or aspirin will help more than a protein bar.  Protein bars in general are nothing but glorified candy bars.  As far as additional protien calories to acheive larger muscle mass, go for the Muscle Milk brand.

  7. ur soar cause u rip ur muscles to rebuild them stronger and so u should weight tell u arnt so soar maybe 3 days for a big work out day and no protean bars don't stop u from getting soar they just help u build muscle

  8. ok first protien bars will pretty much start your healing process if you wanna think of it that way. but you should eat more depending of how much your working. i dont think it will help from being soar. when your soar like of the arms and things you should take a break but when your soar on your abs i heard you should still work them.

  9. Protein bars are to eat if you havent had a full meal and know you

    wont, or after you worked out and it does not help your soreness.

    If your sore see a chiropractor or take pills and its best to rest until

    your not sore anymore before going back to workout.

  10. it is good for you; your supposed to have a bit of sugar and protein after you work out.  try protein bars and a fruit shake (chocolate soymilk, strawberries, blueberries and a banana is so good for you and recovery)

    natural fruit sugars are better to have then other white sugars
