  1. Yes, especially if you have the low fat or reduced fat string cheese. Always choose the one that uses part skim cheese, rather than the full fat version. It's a quick way to get some protein, calcium, and vitamin D..all in a pre-portioned 1 oz serving.

  2. my doctor told me cheese is one of the healthiest things to eat. He suggested that as a snack actually.

  3. Yes cheese is very healthy.

  4. skim or partially skim mozzarella is ok. But no, most cheese isn't that healthy. It is very high in fat and other bad stuff. Dairy should be limited for any adult. (Not for a child or teen-they really need the calcium, adults can take a supplement)

I limit my dairy to once a day, and I make it skim milk or nonfat plain yogurt with fresh fruit.

But I'm sure you aren't going to break the calorie bank with a string cheese...it's a heck of a lot better than a twinkie or a cola.

  5. Look at the label.  Cheese may be "natural", but it's generally loaded with fat, as well.  It's not horrible for you, but if you are trying to lose/watch weight, there are other healthy alternatives.  Fruit is always good, and there's a lot of great stuff in season right now...I could eat peaches or nectarines forever.  A good high-protein snack is cottage cheese...some people hate it, but I really like it.  Veggies are sort of a no brainer, but I find that carrots or celery are often better than they sound.

  6. Healthy nothing wrong with cheese, and they are fun to peel!

So go ahead enjoy your nutritious snack :D
