Question:

Eating utensil showdown! Chopsticks versus fork: which is the superior eating utensil?

Now, I don't want to get any wishy-washy answers. None of this "well, they're both good in their own way" stuff. You have to pick a side, and tell us why!

Also, we're basing this on the utensils being utilized by native and/or expert users. For example, chopsticks in the hands of a Chinaman compared to a fork in the hands of an Englishman.

I'm asking which one is truly better at the one thing it's meant to do: assist humans with the task of eating food.

I look forward to your answers! Thanks!

  1. Chopsticks

    Can eat anything, literally.

  2. fork, easier than chopsticks

  3. chinaman? seriously?! Get out of the last century. plz.

It's said that chopsticks are extensions of the hands. If used correctly, this is true.

Anything a fork can do, I can do with chopsticks.

  4. i think chopsticks are cool, and i know that a chinese person is just as good at using them as i (an american) am at using a fork. however, my vote is for a fork: i think that it is much easier to figure out how to use without being shown how.

(no offense to anyone though - i wish i were better at using chopsticks!)

  5. Chopsticks, preferably the metal, not wooden kind. They help you eat (at least for me) in smaller portions, yet, because you have to pick up food more often using them, you feel like you're actually eating more. I'm Indian btw (from South Asia), but I'm definitely not a native user nor an expert, as of yet.

  6. ....chopsticks are best when eating chicken feet, or snake

...a fork cannot really render a chicken foot effectivley as the tines tend to stick into the bone and are difficult to extract

....that causes a lot of nosey Chinamen to stare, as is their cultural habit

...then when chewing the rubbery, fatty, mess of chicken foot, the whole matter of spittin git out becomes publicly well-known, as once Chines have forund someone to stare at, they fel it is very much within appropriate social etiquette of Chinese tradition to all approach the table where one is seated, and all gather around staring blankly at someone who appears of trivial interest

...so yeah, Chopsticks, sure whatever you say.....must be superior

LOL....BTW....a proper Englishman would not eat the feet of an animal that has walked upon urinated/deficated soil all of it's life......that remains the indeliable tradition of Chinese people

...(snakes make Chinese people have magic powers,,,shhhh, dont tell anyone, it is a state secret)

  7. While chopsticks are cool and whatnot, I have to go with a fork. Why get all fancy when you could just spear-and-go!

  8. i definitely say fork, cause when you use chopsticks its like extremely hard to hold onto a piece of food, and very frustrating haha. forks are wayyy easier to use

  9. Chopsticks..so much more versatile..

  10. chopstics

  11. I can use both naturally, it's mostly a question of speed over utility.

I choose chopsticks unless I can have a spoon to go with the fork. However, chopsticks cause a lot of deforestation because of the massive amount of cheap throwaway wooden chopsticks restaurants use.

  12. a billion chinese think chopsticks are better another billion people around the world use there fingers and most of the rest prefer knife and fork as opposed to the rest of us who think just a fork or spoon is better.i think a fork  so i can eat faster

  13. i love chopsticks they make you work to be able to eat versus stabbing your food like a beast

p.s. i am not Chinese (but i do love chinese food yum...)

  14. forks are easier.....chopsticks are fun.....but id rather use forks

  15. Chopsticks because you don't necessarily have to spear the food and let the juices out in order to eat it.

  16. I think chopsticks are better than forks, because you can do many things with chopsticks if you get used to them. Also very unique.

[Spoons are the best eating utensil of all though]
