Ebanour and Laterly joint favourites for Play Golf At Close House Handicap Hurdle
Ebanour and Laterly are set to lock horns in the Play Golf At Close House Handicap Hurdle at Ayr in England on Friday, April 20, 2012. The winner of the class-3 race will be awarded a cash prize of £4,549.
A total of nine runners have been attracted towards the event, which is scheduled to start at 14:50 GMT, and their names are as follows: Ebanour, Dineur, Cool Baranca, Laterly, Toshi, Aneyeforaneye, Bogside, Strongpoint and Dancing Gizmo.
The going will be good in the 2 mile race, which will definitely test the stamina of all the participants.
Laterly and Ebanour are closely matched competitor, thus the bookies have given them equally good odds. It will be a touch difficult for the punters to choose their favourite, as they will be the ones risking money in the race.
The latter of the two has entered six races over hurdles in his career, winning a couple of them and finishing runner up on the same number of times. Moreover, he also finished third in two outings, which means there was no occasion, where he failed to make
it to the top three.
The Donald McCain’s trainee seems to enjoy racing over the hurdles and his recent form is also quite impressive, as he managed to win his most recent challenge. The five-year-old gelding will be partnered by veteran jockey, Jason Maguire, who has won 261
races over hurdles.
On the other hand, Laterly is also a fierce competitor and has a little more experience compared to his main rival. He has participated in 10 races over hurdles, winning three of them. In addition to that, he has also secured one runner up spot, which shows
that he is quite capable of fighting for the top positions.
However, the seven-year-old gelding has been unable to deliver solid results in recent times, thus the punters might not be encouraged to place a lot of bets in his favour.
The Steve Gollings’ trained runner will be partnered by Paul Bohan, who is new to the sport, but has performed well until now in his career.
The real battle for the Play Golf At Close House Handicap Hurdle will be between Ebanour and Laterly whereas the rest of the runners might struggle to fight for victory.
