How come whenever you try to bid on a item on ebay, right after the bid goes higher from "another bidder"?

It happens right after you click submit bid.

No one can respond that quickly!

Am i missing something?

  1. R u sure u aren't bidding higher???

If not i really dont know what 2 say because ur right no one can bid THAT fast!!!

  2. On Ebay there is an option for bidders that they can put a maximum bid you would like to pay for an item and Ebay automatically bids for you when someone else bids.  Ebay bids just enough to out bid the other bidder until it reaches your maximum bid you put in before.  So if someone else has this option on the item you are bidding on, it will bid higher automatically than your bid until it reaches that other persons maximum bid.  That’s why the bid shows up so fast when you click submit.  This option helps when bidding, to beat the other bidders and the clock.  Hope this helps

  3. Just means that you have bid under the high bidders...highest price they are willing to pay! If they have a highest bid of say $100.00., the starting bid is say $10.00..which they bid, if you bid $12.98, you are still under their $100.00 bid. The high bidder goes to $13.00. Now you have to bid $13.50, their bid will jump to $14.00....and it goes on that way. Now if you bid $100.01...you will have passed their $100.00 high bid and now you are the highest bidder. tagger
