  1. Take the tutorial on eBay and read the different forums.  Seller Central is a wealth of knowledge.

  2. Your first stop should be eBay's Guide to Seller Services http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/services...

eBay's Seller Central has all the resources you need to learn about the basics of selling on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/inde...

The key to a successful eBay selling is simple -- Sell products that people actually want.

Selling on eBay is not as easy as some portray. In fact, go to eBay and check out the number of auctions that end without a single bid. Competition is getting tough, as more sellers go to eBay; even the big boys are joining in the eBay marketplace. Add to that the increasing listing and final value fees.

eBay has several ways for you to determine exactly what the hot items to sell on their marketplace:

Items In Demand = the most popular items currently within that particular category. To see the In Demand page, go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/sell...

Hot Items by Category Report = a monthly report that lists the fastest growing categories on eBay for the previous month. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/what... and select "Hot Items by Category" from the menu on the left.

eBay Pulse = "a daily snapshot of current trends, hot picks, and cool stuff on eBay". Go to http://pulse.ebay.com/ to see eBay Pulse in action.

Merchandising Calendar = eBay promotes specific categories on its home page each month. Savvy eBayers know that this home page exposure results in more interest in such categories. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/cale...  to view the current Merchandising Calendar.

An eBay rep called me up last month and gave me pointers on how to improve my ebay sales

-- Let your buyers know that you are accessible.

-- create Frequently Asked Questions to address oft repeated questions

-- keep the communication going even after listings end.

  3. HI Crystal H,

I appreciate your true concern about doing business on the Internet. Though we need to be cautious about scam and such, I have found a Internet Program that began to produce income for me from the very first day I set it up and tried it.  For more in dept information on that web site, Go to:

  4. well you need a credit card/debit card to register(this proves your idenity only, not to charge you) then you can start selling and buying but i would recommend setting up a paypal account (which of course takes time to get the card and account verified) but you can offer money order and certified checks as payment methods, but you will probably get less bids.

as for how much it costs...they charge for listing an item and for the final value that you got for the item, the higher the item the higher the fees. if you just buy its basically free, no membership fees or anything like that. BUT be careful about what you sell because even if it doesnt sell you still get charged for the listing fee. For buyers its the fees that get you, and all payments are due at the end of each month.

Example: I sold my dads old truck on ebay a few months ago got 1,600 out of it~after the fact i spend about $110 in fees.

I also sold a book for $25.00 and the fees where $2.00.

When selling here are some tips: Set fair shipping prices, never overcharge. ALWAYS specify a refund policy and its also a good idea to offer optional insurance on each and every item that you selll(this way the buyer cant blame you if something happens to their package because you didnt "offer" insurance.) Describe the item in depth, leave nothing to suprise for the buyer, let everything be known otherwise youll have a dispute on your hands. Use high quality, clear photos, If you dont put any pics its doubtful that your item will even sell. Communicate with all buyers(and dotn forget the potential ones too!) if a potential buyer feels "ignored" or waits too long then most and likely they will walk away from the whole deal. Always research items before selling them that way you know just about what you will get for it(or if its not worth anything)ship items quickly..most importantly,.. be careful there are people out there just waiting to scam someone just be on your guard and think it through!

Really, there is sooo much to explain but it really is easier than its made out to be. Feel free to email me with any questions that you might have. Good Luck!
