Question:

Ebay - Problems with low rating buyers. Can I limit them from bidding on my auction?

I am a new but reputable seller on ebay. I currently have 180 feedbacks and 100% positive feedback. Everytime someone with low or 0 rating bids on my item or does buy it now, it's a hassle. I have to bend over backwards to do things I wouldn't normally do like rush out and overnight their $3 item. If I don't I know they will give me negative feedback, because they have nothing to lose. They can just start another account or whatever. Is there a way to forbid people with say less the 10 feedbacks from buying my items?

  1. Give em a break - we all started somewhere.  Other people want a high positive too, you know.  It may just be that they too, would bend over backwards, pay you asap and give YOU good feedback, in order to receive the same.  I've sold and rarely had trouble.  On the other hand, I find sellers with higher scores more unreliable and not quite so honest in their descriptions!

  2. When creating your listing, in the Buyer Requirements section, you can limit the listing to buyers with a rating higher than -1.  That is the least restrictive option though.

My suggestion is to be very specific in your listing as to what services you offer.  For example, "We ship two business days after cleared payment," or "Sorry but we are unable to offer overnight shipping at this time."  Then if you get a request for overnight shipping, politely tell the buyer that the listing said you don't offer that service.  Most people will understand.
