They say I have to confirm my seller account by having Ebay call me. I was just wondering, do they use an automatic answering device or is it real people that call you?

  1. i do, too. why would they have to call you? they have your e-mail address. calling is inefficient.

  2. its automatic.

you CAN use a cellphone, even though it says "landlines only"... just another one of ebays lies.

this is to verify your selling items, this is the last step.

it is an automated answering machine.

please give me the 10 points so I can get to lv 2 and post 40 questions a day instead of only 20 and help more people :(

    thanks

  3. Yeah im about to do that, but they wont call my mobile i tried it, Definatly ebay. Going to get them to ring my Landline but what is it actually for? and what does the call sound like? What happens in the phone call?

    Thanks :)

  4. I sell on Ebay and have never had anyone to call me to verify my account. I don't think they do that. I think it is a scam, and I would report it to Ebay.

I went to Ebay Live Chat...They said: "Please do know that we do need to call a member once they start selling on Ebay. This is to confirm their identity. However, if the message comes through your personal email, it is a scam. All messages from Ebay come through 'My Messages.' Ebay will never ask you to provide financial account numbers, passwords, or other sensitive information through email. If Ebay does ask for that information, a copy of that will be sent to your 'My Messages' folder."

I can't recall them calling me, but they may have. I have been selling for over a year now, so it is possible...please be careful. I was just phished last week. This person stole my password and set up a fraudulent listing for 7 Walt Disney World tickets....
