Question:

Ebay advice - what should I do now?

I bought 2 tickets for a music festival back in January but the tickets weren't released until July which was fine, as long as I got them before the event. Unfortunately, I didn't receive the tickets from the seller and after a bit of chasing up, he agreed to give me a refund. He still hasn't done this and because the transaction is more than 45 days and closed, my dispute is automatically closed.

Can anyone give me any advice as it's almost £300 that I'm owed and I had to buy more tickets as they were a gift for a friend visiting the UK :(

  1. I don't think you have a chance now. I think the best thing to do is never buy tickets from Ebay...if they had not even been released the chances are he never even had them...he probbaly knew it would take over 45 days to sort out and banked on peoples trust.

  2. Have you tried contacting ebay?  It really is worth a try.  Also, did you pay for them via pay pal?  On a Credit Card perhaps? With pay pal you automatically have insurance even though your dispute is over the 45 days, send them an email or try to call them?  If you paid by credit card, you should have some insurance cover on that too?

Sorry to hear of your problem, really horrible situation you are in, but I wouldn't give up for anything.  How far away is this person who sold you the 'bogus' tickets?  I would have to go to them and demand my money back!

I am sure, after being a user on ebay myself for 6 years, that they will find a satisfactory route to ensure you get your money back, YOU MUST EMAIL THEM. Don't delay.

    Good luck.

OK, I understand what you are saying, try calling 0208 0802105.

That is ebay customer support number.  If you explain it to them, hopefully they will be able to guide you what you can do regarding getting your money back.  :)

  3. Have you contacted ebay?

here in India we always have consumer courts and thats a fat sum you´re owing. But you´ve got yourself in a tight situation. contact ebay if that helps. Or you´ll just have to file a suite ;)

  4. It's far too late to do anything through PayPal or eBay (eBay only mediate, they don't actually do anything about getting your money back).

As per my reply on one of your other identical threads, try your card issuer (if you paid in full using your card) or your bank (if you paid in full by direct debit) .  If you paid in part with your existing PayPal balance, neither your card issuer or bank are likely to help you at all.

Also, try Citizens Advice Bureau to see what else you can do (most likely you'll have to take out a private action but for this, you need have the sellers real name and address).
