Ebay and P.O. boxes?

Question

i just sold something on ebay and the item is sort of large but isn't more than 3 or 4 lbs. The girl who bought it has a P.O. Box, i don't know how p.o. boxes work so i don't if i can ship it. Will the post office hold it for her or something? I feel so stupid i've never had somebody without an acutal mailing address before
