Hey i asked a similar question about this befor but didnt ask what i need to know. When u sell something from ebay, and then someone buys it, then comfirms that they send u the money, (for this explain lets say i sold a game of anykind) So i get money and then he receives his game, he plays it, gets bored and finshs it, then he either trys to take back his money from me by either saying that he never got what he buys for, or that the game was defective/was broken. What does ebay do to stop this? How can the buyer prove he is telling the truth, and how can the seller tell hes telling the truth? How do they prove anything?

P.S thanks to whoever uses their own time to help me out on this, its been brothering me.

  1. You then tell the consumer to send back the item before refunding it to him/her to see if the consumer's item really is defected/broken.

  2. Well, if the person pays by paypal they have protection to get their money back....if they pay by cheque or money order they don't.

Even if you don't offer a return policy there is automatically one if you accept paypal and the buyer pays by paypal.  Theyy can and often do file a claim against the seller and get their money back.

They can file not received or significantly not as described.  You can protect from not received claims by sending with online tracking...significantly not as described is harder to protect yourself if you have a dishonest buyer.  The best you can do is have great pictures and do a completely thorough job of describing your items.

I suggest you go to the community help boards on ebay for more in depth answers to any and all of your questions.  You'll find it on the top right of the home page.

  3. You don't have to offer a return policy on Ebay.  It's at your discretion.  So you can offer a 7-day return policy, so you know that you won't have this happen to you.

  4. I have bought and sold on EBay. I have never had a problem with the buyers or the sellers there.

EBay will investigate any problems you have...they will hear both side of an issue.

I always use Pay pal on EBay...they are another ...kind of mediator, between parties that disagree.

I insure all my packages...never had any problems..been the like 10 yrs.
