  1. Don't put $1000 unless you have $1000 and are willing to spend that much on the item.  You can bid any amount you want, as long as, if you happen to win the auction, you can pay the amount.

  2. Yes there is a chance there is a chance you will get it for $35. There is also a chance that you will have to pay an amount anywhere in between $35-$1000. Just make sure you are willing to actualy pay a big amount like that.

  3. You won't pay more than a few cents more than the highest bid. If at the last second someone bid 40.00, you will pay like 41.00. When it comes to Ebay, sniping is the best way to get what you want.

  4. Yes, you can do that, but be careful.  what if someone wants it real bad and bids 500.00!!  You will still win, but look at what you'll pay.

  5. I should go on and bid sever hundred dollars, and you look like a fool when you have to pay your max.

  6. right, so i think you're asking that if the max bid at the time is 35 (you), and you put the max you are willing to bid at 1000, can you still buy it for 35?

yes, this is true if no one else bids on it.  but as soon as someone bids, ebay will show that you outbid them, and this will go on until you hit $1000, and at that point, they can choose to outbid you.  the max bid feature is basically giving ebay the authority to bid on your behalf, up to a certain amount (defined by you) so you don't have to sit there staring at your computer all day long.  it is not wise, though, to assume no one will outbid you because you never know what some looney out there is willing to pay.  you are contractually obligated to pay that $1000 if the bid gets up that high, though for a psp it probably never will.  setting a bid that high means you are most likely to win it, but worst case, you will end up paying a little more than you could have bought it for at the store.  i would advise you to place your max bid as the highest amount you are willing and capable of paying for the item.  i think a lot of people get into trouble with the max bid feature.
