I don't like eBay because there are too many fees and too many scammers.  I don't like gumtree because it is owned by eBay.  They are the same company.

Ebay has a wider audience, is international and the people are prepared to pay more.

Gumtree is localised and people are expecting bargains.

Gumtree is great fo finding a flat, or somewhere to live. I found somewhere great through it.

To sell heavy stuff locally go though Gumtree, or for advertising anything without spending a penny.

Otherwise Ebay is the best bet to sell any kind of stuff nationally and internationally if not too heavy :)
