Ebay pentax k1000 camera?

Question

i just won a bid for a pentax k1000 but i didnt notice until i looked over the pictures again that the it didnt say asahi on it.

does it make a difference ? is it fake? will it still work the same?

For the run of K1000's you are getting, Pentax may have changed where it was manufactured. Many years ago my brother bought me a Pentax camera in another country and although the camera was identical to those available in the United States, the markings on the camera were different. It has something to do with licensing the name between one country and another.

WHETHER IT IS ASHAHI OR NOT THIS CAMARA RULED THE WORLD FOR MANY YEARS.IT IS A MANUAL CAMARA WHICH IS ON THE WAY OUT.

My Pentax KX SLR from 1975 has only the Pentax name on the camera. My collection of later Pentax SLR and DSLR cameras bought since then are all  labelled Pentax.

It seems the Ashai optical company simplified their branding to only Pentax. although in the US the inporter Honeywell got their name on some cameras.

It does not make any difference, the K1000 is a legend !

Pentax was the brand made by Asahi Optical Company. They ended up adopting the name as their company name.

Similarly Nikon was the brand made by Nippon Kogaku. They also adopted the better known Nikon name as the company name.
