Paying for an item on Ebay using Paypal with your credit card is the safest way.

If there is a problem paypal buyer protection should cover you,if paypal doesn't give you a refund, file a claim with your credit card company.

For the most part, yes... just make sure to check the seller's feedback first though.  The more positive feedback a seller has, the better chances of having an honest transaction there will be.

Stay away from sellers with less than 10 feedback...or 100s of negatives... anyone with 30%+ or higher in total feedback negatives is risky.

don't keep bidding to reach a reserve price either...it's your choice.  If the reserve isn't met for the highest price your willing to pay...then let the item go... there will be something else...or similar later.

Don't buy anything that normally costs $100-$500 and is selling for $1 buy it now...that's a 100% scam! Those are ALWAYS b.s...stay away from $1 items that are worth hundreds of thousands, UNLESS it's for bidding.

double check the shipping/handleing costs too.
