  1. eBay has a wonderful system of giving feedback for each transaction for creating trust and facilitating commerce between complete strangers. That's the major basis for the site's overwhelming success.

Basically, every timee that someone completes a transaction on eBay they have the opportunity to rate the experience as either positive, neutral or negative. The more positive ratings a seller receives the better their 'feedback score' becomes. Also, when giving feedback buyers can leave a short comment.

The best way to be confident that you are going to receive your product is to check the feedback score and comments for the seller. If they have a feedback score over 100, then you're on your way. Also check to see if they've sold a similar item to yours before. If they have and the transaction went smoothly, then you can be pretty sure.

Finally, if you pay with PayPal, then you also get buyer protection and if after the sale is complete the seller can't prove that they posted it to you PayPal l will reimburse you for the sale.

So if you are careful you really can't lose.

    Good luck.

  2. You just have to trust in their feedback rating- I've never had a real problem but I don't buy big, expensive stuff.  I'd rather go to a store and see, touch and feel before I buy.

  3. You mean whether you will recieve your items once you've paid?

Honestly, you can't.  People say alot of c**p about buyer protection etc.  In reality it doesn't really work.  People get ripped off all the time.  and Ebay doesn't care as they make more money on scam sellers.

It all basically comes down to trust.  The best you can do is look at a listing, look for any obvious signs that it might not be genuine...read the sellers feedback.  A good way to test if its real is to ask if pickup is available.  Scammers will often say no.

  4. The feedback rating indicates wether they have a good track record with customers, if it's at about 98% or above (and most sellers are) then you should not have a problem, even if it's lower you probably wont have a problem. In fact I don't think I've seen anybodys feedback at lower than like 95%, but I don't really pay attention to score so I guess that's not saying much.

Also they have to give it to you or they will have their account terminated if ebay determines that they have commited fraud, and if they commited fraud there is potential for a criminal case. Plus if they have a history of fraud they will not get any customers so it's in everyones best interest for them to send you the product

  5. The only way you can be certain that they are going to deliver on the item is check out their feedback.  eBay has the feedback ratings in place just for this reason.

I suggest don't deal with people with less than 95% positive without reading the negative comments first.  Also, if they have hidden feedback, I'd skip over them.  For some reason or another, they are hiding their ratings.

Feedback is the best way to be sure you aren't dealing with a looser, as they are out there.

With ebay having implemented the new rule that sellers cannot leave negative feedback, you are more certain to trust the ratings that buyers leave the sellers.

    Hope that helps!

  6. Look at the seller's feedback ratings. If it's under 100 total sales, I usually think twice before buying. If the seller has less than a 95% positive feedback, I won't buy. (My buying feedback is at 109 right now at 100% positive.) Also look up the negative feedbacks to ascertain what the nature of the complaints against them are. Often there will be a pattern.

Another thing is to buy postal insurance for any items being sent by sellers you have doubts about.

If you pay by using PayPal, you are guaranteed the item will arrive or else you can file a complaint with them and get a refund.
