Please?

I have two jobs right now because I have to earn money for school, but I still need another source of money. I would like to know if it's possible to sell things such as clothes you don't want anymore, on Ebay? How would you go about doing it, and would be charged for shipping or would the buyer pay for it?

If you can help me thank you!!

  1. Start by buying a few things on ebay (inexpensive things, stuff that you needed anyway) and then you will see how it works.  That is the best way to start.

I can tell by your question that you have not bought on Ebay before.  Learn that first then think about selling.  You can make money from it if you are carefull and clever with it.  If not it can be more work than benefit.

  2. If you charge correctly the buyer pays shipping. Check out the various auctions.

Some sellers charge MUCH more than shipping really is either because of the hassle, or they just want to skim a bit from eBay.

At this point eBay is being a good bit harsh on smaller sellers. (They want to follow the "Amazon Model' since investors are upset that eBay stock isn't doing as well as Amazon.)

Unless your built-in markup is pretty high, you're talking slave-wage stuff at this point.

  3. yeah you can stuff stuff on ebay.  you'll need to pay listing fee when you make a listing and a commision to ebay when your item is sold.  You can charge the buyer on shipping, just clearly indicate how much and the invoice they get will have the total.

create a user ID, preferably also create an account with paypal (free) so you can receive payments.  It's more secure and offers more protection for you as a seller if you use paypal.

  4. The Ebay search feature allows you to check "completed auctions" to show what things have (and haven't) sold for on ebay to give an idea on what to price and what the going shipping rates are. The best thing that I can tell you about Ebay is to price things cheaply and let the customers compete to pay you more and more. Make sure to cover your listing fees, packing costs, etc. into the shipping charges but don't over price. If you don't want to take 88 cents for an item, don't start the bidding there. The fees for unsold merchandise add up. Cross promote other items into each ad listing so people will look for the other bargains and offer multiple shipping discounts. Go to search a particular item you wish to sell ... put the title of how you would list it and click the "advanced search" to the right of the title. Look for the box that says "completed auctions" and you can then search what has sold, hasn't sold, etc. Pay attention to the successful sales for ideas on how to write the ads and what shipping charges they sold for. Selling is about presenting the features and benefits of the items. Make the buyers either want or need what you have to sell.

  5. Clothes are an ok item to sell on eBay.  I wouldn't sell anything that has holes in it or anything of that nature.  The buyer would pay for the shipping and you can go to the post office and have the item weighed first, or go to www.usps.com and try to figure out how to weigh them on there.  Also, if you can get free boxes at that website delivered to your door, so you don't have to go to the post office.  Hope that helps!!

  6. yes, it's possible.  go to ebay and they have plenty of helps to get you started.  The buyer pays for the shipping also, which you set the price of.  Ebay keeps a small fee for the cost of placing your add.  good luck.

  7. You can sell darn near anything on Ebay!! Clothes, especially worn ones, don't bring in a lot of money, but you never know...

The buyer usually pays for shipping and it can be pre-calculated in your ad. Ebay makes selling easy. Just go to SELL on the Ebay site and they pretty much help you at each step.

I remember the guy that needed money, and sold everything he owned for $1.00 each sale. Even sold his used toothbrush!!! If he had 400 things, he made $400.00. Not bad....

  8. Yes, you can sell clothes and stuff on Ebay. You'll need a paypal account so the buyers can pay you, which means you need a bank account (and maybe a credit/debit card, I can't remember). Go online to ebay.com and sign up, it's actually pretty easy to follow the instructions. And you figure out how much shipping would cost and the buyer pays for it.
