(ebay credit card money) '

i used the discription above to attract more answers any ways i have a idea that might make ebay safe say you wanted to buy something remove all the money of your vista card ecxept for the amount that you need (example- (thing) =1.99 freeshipping no tax (card)=100$ = -198.1$

then send the nu,ber of the card after this its impossible to take anymore money then you need for the thing so they cant scam you for your money i dont know much about vista cards but i do know how they work do you think this stratagy would work it took me about a minute to come up wih so i dont realy expect it to work

  1. It's not a bad idea, as long as you only ever make one purchase.

Lets say you buy item 1 for $49.95 and you have a credit limit of $3000. They reduce you're available credit to $.49.96 and you then process the payment.

If scammers only tried to use your card number during the initial transaction you'd now be safe, but at some point you're going to have to increase your available credit (even if it's only to make another purchase) and then the scammers could process another transaction.

Of course this is all theoretical anyway, most credit cards will let you exceed your limit (but charge you for the priveledge), and increasing and decreasing your credit limit removes the convenience that buyers count on.

Bottom line? If you're that concerned about fraud use a visa/mc gift card instead of your actual credit card.

  2. Ebay has Paypal so you never send a credit card number.  That's safe.  Oh, and it's a VISA card.
