Ecclestone Calls Valencia Race A Miracle
After every race there are a few men who return happy and satisfied and there is another lot that have long faces and sad hearts. However, after the race of the last weekend, it is the F1 president Bernie Ecclestone who has returned the happiest from the track. On last Sunday the ninth race of the Formula One calendar, European Grand Prix, took place in Valencia, Spain. After his return from the track, Ecclestone claimed that the race had been nothing less than a miracle as after all the obstacles Valencia had finally been able to host an F1 race. Also he said that he had been very proud of the entire management of Valencia who had made it possible to have the venue ready for the event.
Ecclestone had been very proud to claim Valencia as a new home for the sport and would like to have it added to the calendar permanently. He told that there had been a number of obstacles and hurdles and above all there is a common point of view that the track lacks the potential of providing action, however as per him the event went well and he was happy that there is a Spanish city on the calendar.
The Valencia’s track is a dual one with patches of purpose built road track as well as it encompasses patches of street track as well. Another such kind of circuit is the Monaco Circuit, which is the most popular circuit of Formula One fans around the globe whereas this Valencia track stands among the most unpopular ones. A large majority of the race fans have always considered it as somewhat less entertaining track.
The Valencia track is comparatively new track that had been designed by the German designer Hermann Tilke who is nowadays busy in the final work of the South Korean Circuit as well. The only thing about this track that some of the fans appreciate is its parts that run along its harbour and gives a magnificent view of the port of Valencia.
Ecclestone has expressed his gratitude to the organisers of the event saying that it is almost unbelievable that they had been successful in making all the arrangements in such a short period of time. Spain has been added to the Formula One Calendar only three years back when the first race here took place in the year 2008.
Ecclestone was quoted by news agency EFE, during his visit to Spain last weekend that he felt really proud and delighted with Valencia, and considers it a new home where the Formula One caravan would like to come as much as possible, also he added that he would want to see its popularity rise up to that of Monaco. He also exclaimed that he is very hopeful about the future of Valencia since they had already been able to cover a distance of twenty years in only two years.
While Ecclestone does not tire praising the track and the last week’s race the people do not seem to be much convinced by him. Despite the fact that the last weeks race was exciting and dramatic and had all the elements that one would want to see in any of the enjoyable races, still the track was not able to reshape fans’ opinion largely because of the glass bottle incident. One of the fans threw a bottle on the track during the race which had to be removed by one of the marshals risking his life running on the track to pick the bottle up.
After all this it is time that the organisers as well as the locals of Spain put in a little more to improve the image of the place and make sure such events(glass bottle on track) should be avoided that defames the entire places.
