  1. I ride a bicycle or walk short distances < 3km, except if I have to carry very heavy loads or too much stuff.

  2. My commute to work is 13 miles, and I either bike or take my electric scooter.  I try to do the same for short shopping trips when possible as well.

  3. My fiance and I have been vigorously searching good deals on great bicycles to aid in our commute when the weather gets warmer.  Neither of us work terribly far from our home, so it makes sense to not drive when unnecessary.

Additionally, we now have a hybrid which (while not a solution) is a step in the right direction.

Several Pudget Sound cities in the Washington State have tried to go bio-fuel for their fleet vehicles, and many, many cities are transitioning to completely renewable energy for mass transit and government vehicles.

However, there is nothing more eco-friendly than the old heal-toe express, and we try to take it whenever we can!

  4. How about the "World"s Cleanest Car".

"BBC News is reporting that a French company has developed a pollution-free car which runs on compressed air. India's Tata Motors has the car under production and it may be on sale in Europe and India by the end of the year.

The air car, also known as the Mini-CAT or City Cat, can be refueled in minutes from an air compressor at specially equipped gas stations and can go 200 km on a 1.5 euro fill-up -- roughly 125 miles for $3. The top speed will be almost 70 mph and the cost of the vehicle as low as $7000."

  5. I just turned 60 years young, and walk 2 miles each way to work! If I can do it, many more COULD do it! If it rains, I use an umbrella....if weather is REALLY bad, well that's ride to work time! This would also help our health, walking a bit more/ I realize some people may not be able to do this, but if you can....why not? I also take stairs and not escalators at shopping malls, for the exercise. Some, in my rural area, now ride their horses to the convenient store! Kinda cool!
