Eco-earth has sand!!!?

Question

When i was taking out the excess water from the eco-earth..when i was done..there was a good amount of sand at the bottom of the sink i used to soak it in!!! can eco-earth cause scale rot in snakes if sand gets in the scales?!?!!?!?!
