Question:

Eco-friendly clear mascara/ brow gel?

I am looking for a clear mascara that can be used to shape brows - so it has to be completely clear and like a gel.

Now the only 3 I am aware of are:

- The Body Shop (against animal testing but sold off to L'Oreal)

- Boots No 7 (Boots say they are against animal testing, but I don't know, do you have any other information?)

- Estee Lauder (according to PETA website they don't do animal testing, but on their website under 'Environment' they only say they do recycling and their packages are recyclable etc.)

I have been looking online and all cruelty-free, vegan or generally environmentally friendly sites have only proper mascaras.

Do you know of any other such clear mascara I can find online? (If yes please include address)

If not, which one of the above would you choose?

Please only answer with specific suggestions.

Thanks!

  1. Does it really matter, you know a good way to stay green, kill your self so we don't have to hear about your whining and then burn your body for energy.

  2. Try some clear, pure aloe vera gel from your local health food store. Or, from an aloe plant. Seriously, try it.

  3. saffronrouge.com has a list of eco friendly make up and body products.  You might want to look into a European Co.  They are much farther ahead of the game as far as eco and organic body products goes.

  4. I don't know of any clear mascara & am not 1 for wearing make-up. I feel that if people don't like what they see then there are plenty of other options to look elsewhere.

There are many companies out there claiming to go against animal testing & it gets confusing searching for eco-friendly products. I suggest the body shop or any product which carries the BUAV (British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection) leaping rabbit symbol. These products have had intensive background research carried out by under cover work. If in doubt, check the ingredients online....some products are more potent than they appear. Or possibly contact the makers or refuse to buy the product. Could you not just use an eyebrow brush to tidy them? =)

  5. It's the vanity of others who are causing all of the Environmental problems. They don't want to admit that certain things are much better to do because they don't want too, or what will others say or think? I we concider the wants and desire of the vain, all our efforts for an Eco-friendly environment will go in-vain. What does it matter what your eyebrows look like? It's who you are that really matters! If people can't accept you for what you are, who you are and what you look like, without embarrassing you, then better find some real friends in life. The are not at all environmentally friendly in the least. If we can't love what we can see, we will never love what we cannot see! So, if you have to feel bad about your eyebrows because of vanity or what others say, where is the true care about the environment and the effect it's having on others that we don't ever see. Take care. There's danger at every step. best wishes. Gouranga

  6. OK, we have to acknowledge that there are more and less eco-friendly ways to do almost anything.

But first, the total amount of mascara you will use in a lifetime is of little importance to the environment. It can be of some concern to you if it is in any way toxic, and you are part of the environment. But let's not imagine this will be significant to the rest of the environment if it is healthy for you.

  7. Go Green.  Do not wear any at all.
