You can install solar panels, a small wind turbine go to www.northerntool.com or www.bpsolar.com or similar website

I guess it would depend on the area outside the shop as to what to install

Plant a leafy tree.   In the summer it will shade the shop keeping it cooler without AC.   In the winter it will cut down on windspeed a little, while allowing sunlight in.
