  1. Read this article from HGTV Green Home. It has lots of ideas to go green. Give this article to anyone you know that owns a home.

  2. normal house with no air for plant. and ecohouse is help plant breath

  3. This is a good one.  It’s constructed of recycled materials, very well insulated, it has strategically placed windows to allow for light to help heat the house in the winter, and maximum ventilation in the summer to keep heating /cooling energy requirements down.  It has a grey water system that reuses water from the sinks and showers to flush toilets, it has storage tanks that hold the drainage from the roof to prevent erosion from the runoff, and the water is piped to the hoses and sprinklers for yard plants and gardens. There are solar panels on the roof to supply electricity, and if you were to purchase the right options, you could conceivable go off the grid.

  4. Well there are a lot of things different between eco-houses and normal houses.  Here are a few ideas: made of recycled material from old building, better insulation to reduce heat/ air conditioning (I went into a hut that was insulated with hay and it felt naturally air conditioned), bigger windows to let light in, solar panels on top.

  5. The U. S. Green Building Council is an organization that provides acreditation for green homes through it's LEED program.  LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Enviromental Design.  The key factors that they are concerned with are as follows.

    Innovation and Design Process:

This mean are you doing something different and innovative that can be beneficial to the enviroment.

    Sustainable Site:

This includes how the site interacts with the enviroment around it and also proximity to mass transportation.

    Water Efficiency:

How does the building use water.  All the toilets, showers, and sinks must be low flow.  Also is there any water storage and reuse (grey water)

    Energy and Atmosphere:

How energy efficient is the home.  Is it properly insulated.  Is there proper exhaust in the attic and garage areas.  One thing many people are doing is the whole house switch that will turn off the entire house from an exit.

    Material and Resources:

This section is primarily concerned with what materials are used and what precentage comes for recycled or quickly renewable resources like bamboo.  For example the Santa Fe Civic Center is using heavy timber from areas affected by the recent forest fires on the west coast.

    Indoor Enviromental quality:

Going green means taking care of the inhabitants of the building by filtering air and providing fresh air into the building.  This done to increase indoor air quality.

    Awareness and Education:

Does the homeowner understand how their home works are people in the community aware of the benifits of the a green home.

Below are two links one is to USGBC LEED homes page and the other is to a PDF file describing all the credits a homebuilder can earn while building a green home.

  6. Watch the video at this site . it has some of the information you are looking for.

    Hope it helps

  7. The main difference is how the two use energy.  Eco houses are superinsulated so heat loss is kept at a minimum, thus reducing heating costs.   Eco houses also greatly reduce the demand for electricity by relying on solar panels for at least a part of their electrical requirements.  There are some eco houses that use recycled materials, such as old tires and glass bottles as construction materials.
