I think animals are extremely interesting and awesome, so when I grow up I want to work like... Those people that conduct research on animals about the areas they live and how many there are and capture some species and do tests about their abilities and how they work, and also be kind of like an adventurer and explore weird places to find the animals... I don't know if you know what I mean >.< Like... Explore, find animals, do some research on their way of living, their adaptations and abilities what they eat... All that stuff, but I don't know if for this I should be a Zoologist, Ecologist or what... The problem is that for what I've read, Zoology is more into the cells and how they work in the inside and evolve, and Ecology is more about their communities and how they interact, and I think what I want to be is like in the middle... It's confusing >.<... What do you think would be the thing I'd want to study...

  1. You have plenty of time to refine your interests. Start with a broad base of subjects, mostly in the sciences. When you get to college, a zoology major sounds ideal for you. For electives, concentrate on the courses that include field work. Don't confine yourself to the assigned reading. Keep up with the journals in your field of interest: Ecology, Ecological Monographs, Journal of Ecology .... Note the universities with which the authors are affiliated. Get to know them personally, either by letter, email, or in person (professional meetings, for example). That will help you pick a school for graduate work.

  2. well my sister did animal & plant biology (apb) & is teaching as she found it hard to get a job in that area as competition was huge.

i did bio-chemistry at uni & i work with the waterways.

i would suggest you talk it over with a tutor in the biology field or a carea adviser, but good luck in any case

  3. The middle is called wildlife ecology. You would want to get a bachelors in either zoology or wildlife biology with an emphasis in ecology. If you don't mind traveling, working jobs that don't last more than 3 months to a year, and aren't looking to get rich, there are some great opportunities if you can demonstrate competence. If you find you really like the work, you'll probably decide to go to graduate school. It will open more doors for you and you'll find your thesis work just as enjoyable.

BTW: take all the math, statistics and writing classes you can in high school. They will serve you very well in college and on the job.
