Question:

Economic Stimulus Payment?

I am 18 years old and filed my own tax return in February of this year. It was direct deposited and I was expecting to receive my stimulus payment of $300 by May 9th... it never came. If my parents filed me as a dependent on their tax return but not as a child qualifying for child tax credit (since i'm over 17), do I still lose the economic stimulus payment since they filed me as a dependent, or should I still be receiving it? I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

  1. If you were claimed as a dependent, you are not eligible for a stimulus payment even though, since you are over 16, your parents won't get extra in their payment either.

  2. If your parents claimed you- you will not get a stimulus check.

    Sorry

  3. Any person claimed as a dependent is ineligible for the stimulus plan rebates.  The fact that you're too old for your parents to get the extra $300 for claiming you is irrelevant.

  4. If your parents claimed you on their taxes, you get nothing. THEY get an extra $300. Maybe they'll share.

  5. Okay.  I had the same problem.  My son is 18 and  filed his own tax return.   He also lives in my house and is a full time student as well as having a job.  Therefor, I claimed him as my dependent.   I thought he was getting the $300 too.  I told him that I'd give it to him if it comes with mine.  Come to find out noooo.  18 year olds are basically getting screwed over in the stimulus payment.  Nobody gets it.  You don't get it because you were claimed on your parents tax return.  They don't get either because you are over 17.    Yep,  if you would have just been a few months younger your parents would get it.

I agree ....  it definitely sucks.

  6. like I have lready said its done by the last 2 digits of your SSN

    for example:

02 will get theirs before "90"

    ok?

also..it will be d/d since you had it directly dep .

    good luck

  7. Sorry, but if your parents claimed you, you will get nothing.
