Economic collapse (UK fuel)?

With petrol reaching over £1.25 a litre, i was wondering what sort of level would bring the country down, any ideas?

Well, on a value to GDP basis, it's only a bit ahead of where it was in 1980. So you might expect the same sort of "collapse" as happened then.
