Economically speaking...will we ever have "free energy"?

since theres no economic incentive other than gov. grants and donations will renewable energy really ever come about? there are plenty of ways to make renewable energy...just no one wants to pay the up front cost

Renewable energy doesn't equal free energy, someone has to pay for the renewal.  Hydroelectric is one good example, since it is renewable.  Hydroelectric still requires maintenance and operators, still requires parts and materials.  Even if you set up a hydroelectric plant in your backyard you would still be paying out every year to maintain it.

  3. No. Electricity is a service and you pay for it no matter how renewable it is. People in Kalifornia pay for electricity produced by wind. Then you have all these issues like wiring, sub-stations, maintenance, labor, etc.

  4. There will never be free anything!  Everything has a price.  Despite the generally held belief that there are free things in this life, there really aren't!

  5. Tesla had "free energy" 30 years ago. JP Morgan even financed him. However how could those in charge retain their power if energy was free?
