Is inflation or recession forecasted for the rest of 2008?

  1. It depends on who you read.

    There is no "official" forecast, rather a variety of universities and economics organization give their own forecasts. Naturally, some are more respected than others.

    Generally, The National Bureau of Economic Research is the accepted authority when it comes to labeling and dating recessions...but that is after the fact, not forecasting.

    In short, you WILL NOT find any official forecasts of that kind, because they don't exist.

    If you just want someone's opinion, then you can find that sort of thing in a variety of magazines. Try The Economist, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal or Businessweek. Of course, their opinions are likely to differ...but should be good enough for you homework.
