You buy $20 000 on shares of a high-tech company in the stock market. They then gain 50% in value.

1. how much are they now worth?

2.They then fall 50% and you decide to sell them as you worry they may decline further. How much did you sell them for?

  1. 50% of 20000 is 10 000. So 10 000 + 20 000 = 30 000 (1.)

    50% of 30 000 is 15 000. So 30 000 - 15 000 = 15 000 (2.)

    So they were worth 30 000 but u sold them for 15 000... too bad, huh? :)

    2. 15,000.

    50% of 20,000 is 10,000
