Why is it that even in a soft economy, cosmetic/beauty companies seem to do better?

  1. The number of people who feel they don't look good enough is rising steadily. The media and Hollywood tells them they're not up to par so they go for the makeup...

    In other news, Vanity is at an all time high...


  2. A good indication of a hard-hit economy is when the beauty industry starts to suffer. Even when the economy is soft, the beauty industry is hit somewhat. But rather than looking for a decline in sales, you should look for a decline in GROWTH of sales.

    Finally, there are more females in the world. Every day, more and more are entering adolescence and young adulthood. This means every day, according to nature, there are more and more females entering the market for beauty products. In a soft economy, these females may opt for cheaper and/or fewer beauty products than in a prosperous one. Just because the economy isn't doing great doesn't mean these females shun all beauty products. They simply consume less than they would if the economy was strong.

  3. because most people are depress that they lose money so they get their hair done and nails done

    just look at women for example, whenever they are down they get their nails done to make themselves feel better.
