I cleaned my unit a week ago, removed the plate inside and replaced it with a spare I had. When I put everything back together, the unit run just fine, however, it appears there is a problem with the unit, because I do not get the clean air smell in my house. I am not sure if this is a lack of ionization or another problem and I have no idea if something on the unit needs to be replaced or repaired. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.I have a similar situation. I noticed a "sparking" sound when it was running on high. I went to replace the plate and it broke. I know I need a new plate but there was no smell before this happened. It is probably the same problem as you are having. I do not have a manual so I don't know where to start. I also did something else. I took the filtet off while it was running...then noticed the warning not to do this. Is there a reset on this or will it reset itself? I love the unit and it is the only one so far that has really worked. I hope someone can help with this. Thanks.
