Question:

Ecosaver fish Solar Cover?

Has anyone ever used Ecosaver fish instead of a regular solar cover (blue, black, clear)? I'm trying to get answers to see if this liquid really works as well as or better than the conventional cover.

  1. They're a bit of a gimmick. Yes, they will slow down your evaporative rate but they won't keep heat in like a normal solar blanket will.

They work by releasing an alcohol based liquid into the pool that sits on the pool's surface. That solution evaporates off ( taking pool heat with it) but leaves the water underneath that layer of chemical, alone, since that water isn't exposed to the air.  That slows your water evaporation alright but heat transfer still takes place from the warmer pool water to the cooler chemical layer and from there...to the air.

No, they're not as effective as a proper solar cover.
