My wife tested postivie on an hpt and a blood test. We went to the doctor a week ago and she did an ultrasound but she couldnt see anything. She said that the fetus is still too small to be seen and told us to come back inanother 10 days. My wife has been suffering from pain in her left lower abdomin. It isnt a very sharp pain but she says it hurts. She is still able to walk and cook and go out and all so I guess the pain is not that bad. No bleeding till now. what could this be ? could she be having an ectopic pregnancy ? she should be 6.5 weeks by now

  1. Hi! I had the exact same thing happen to me when I was 5 weeks pregnant. They told me I had a "positive pregnancy" and an "empty uterus." Wow! How scary is that! BUT, it turned out it was just too early on to be able to see the baby on ultrasound. They finally picked up a picture when I was 7 weeks along. I completely understand the stress and fear of waiting test after test to find out, but it might help to know that I did go through the same thing and now have a 9 month baby boy to show for it! I'm sure everything will work out wonderfully for you, once the waiting is over! Good Luck!

  2. Did you have an ultrasound yet?  If you did, then I'm pretty sure they would have noticed if the baby was in the wrong place then.  Every pregnancy is different and so cramping and some slight bleeding can occur even if there is nothing wrong.  I would go to the doctors and have your wife checked out.

  3. I had an ectopic and my symptoms were pain in lower abdomen on side of ectopic, brown bleeding, and an ultrasound which showed nothing in the uterus.  The pain was uncomfortable but I was still able to function and do my normal day to day stuff.

Ectopics can be life threatening if they rupture the tube.  Your wife needs to get checked by the dr asap

  4. have you called your doctor

    they can

tell by blood work or ultrasound

    good luck
