  1. Ecuador is awsome!!! You have to visit Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, and denfinitely the Galapagos Islands. The food is great, the people are nice! Have a fun trip and let me know how u liked it!

  2. definetly look into a town called Montanita.

it's an amazing surfer town where lots of Europeans love to visit. You can stay at a hostel there which features little cabins for you to stay at. Hope you enjoy your trip!

    I'll be going August 11 !

  3. Ecuador offers multiple options depending on the length of your trip and your budget.

If you are short of time and Land in Quito, explore "El Centro". There are many building from the time Ecuador was a Spanish Colony, where you can be blown away by the arts of "Escuela Quitenia" (Quitenean School).

Ask about the "Teleferico", which can take you to the top of the volcano that guards the city, from the you will have a fantastic view of the city. If you are adventurous, you can climb to the top of the active volcano from there.

With some more time, visit Otavalo, about 1,5 hours north of Quito. This town is world wide know by its inhabitants, the otavalenios, which are master handy craft makers. On Saturday, they have a big fair and for sure you can get plenty of souvenirs there.

If you like thermal waters, go to Papallacta, about 1,5 hours East of Quito. Not widely known by foreign tourist but broadly known by locals.

Banios is another alternative. About 2,5 hours south of Quito, by bus, you'll find this little town surrounded by mountains, where the Andes meet with the Amazon jungle. This town is full of tourists, economic accommodation and great offer of adventure options: climbing, bungi jumping, rafting, thermal water pools and you might be able to catch Tungurahua volcano erupting!

Between Quito and Banios, keep your eyes open, and you'll enjoy many Andean peaks: Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano in the world, Antisana, Corazon, Tungurahua, among others. Cotopaxi is also a national park, and if you are into hiking and climbing, don't miss it.

With more time, go south, visit Cuenca. If you are looking for gold or silver, Chordeleg, a small town outside Cuenca, has great bargains. From this town many skillful jewelers have migrated to New York, so the quality of their design is really good.

You should live Ecuador without visiting Guayaquil, the largest city of Ecuador with a fantastic promenade next to the river (Malecon 2000) and many malls and markets to shop with prices for all budgets. Do not miss the beaches: Salinas, Bahia. Manta, Montanita, among other resorts. Best time of the year to travel to this part of the country is December, where the weather is at its best, however, it you look after warm weather, you'll find it all year around.

Even more time and money? Book and adventure trip into the jungle. Visit Yasuni national park, which contains probably the largest diversity of birds in the world by square kilometer. And with time and money, don't leave Ecuador without visiting the Galapagos Islands.

    Highly recommend: Ecuadorian Sea Food!

  4. your going to love Ecuador! it's my favorite place ever. one of my favorite places is Esmeralda. banos is just as beautiful i really enjoy going to ambato as well, but nothing beats going to the Galapagos islands. well have fun and good luck.

  5. Yes, go to Quito, Cuenca, Guayaquil, Baños, Otavalo and of course to the Middle of the world, latitude 0 line.  I loved the market place in Otavalo where I bought lots of nice handicrafts. Cuenca has a breathtaking scenary and Baños was ok. Guayaquil was nice, with nice places to eat and shop. Quito is quite colonial but nice too.
