  1. Hello there.  Many infants have eczema and MOST of them grow out of it on their own.  Do not buy expensive medicines: all of them are either steroid-based or immuno-suppressants and the side effects are worse than eczema.  Be cool. Take it easy.  Moisturize with Vaseline (eczema likes dry skin).  AVOID hot and long baths and showers (they dehydrate the skin)  Watch your granddaughters diet: if some foods (dairy, citrus, chocolate, gluten, eggs are the usual suspects) worsen her eczema - avoid those.  Minimize your g.daugther's exposure to household chemicals and perfumed soaps/shampoos.

    Best,

    Bernadette

  2. Sorry, Eczema is not curable-although it can be controlled.

First, a little about Eczema ( Mind that I read this in an artiste a good while ago, so it might be a little inaccurate.)

Everyone has skin cells, and when those cells are irritated they become red, for protection. Eczema is when the cells are extra sensitive and react very wildly. As I said before, you can not cure it. Just control.

This may not be a /big/ help until they get older, but it will come in handy evetuelly.

Because the skin reacts differntly then your might, be /very/ careful about which degrent, soap, and shampoos you use on them. For soap I reccomend Safe Guard, for Shampoo f they have eczema on thier scalp Head and Shoulders. Or you can use the head and shoulders for thier body.

Maybe get them tested for Ahsma and food allergies, as that generally comes with eczema.

Keep their surrounding calm- stress(even not to their skin) irritated eczema.

Heat and sweat and all that stuff is a HUGE no-no. I know when I get all hot and sweat I am miserable for hours.

Keep them moisturizer- after they bath, or finish swimming or anything like that apply some lotion(the sooner the better.)  also in the cold, be sure to put lotion on. The cold drys the skin.

Medication. Cleartins, zertects, and benijerls are wonderful. If you get them to take the pink and white beinajerls-be careful. Unless they take them for /years/ they will pretty much pass out. Also- predizone. Hopefully it wont get too bad for this, seeing as it is a steroid but it clears the skin fast. Good for helping in infection.

      Infections- Random red dots.

Apple Cider Vinigor. It is absolutely discuting, but it clears skin WONDERFULLY.

Lastly, be sensative. Eczema is harder than many think. It is painful, looks awful, you feel ten times worse than you look, it cause you to feel gross, miss out things, and it NEVER takes a break. Every night and day for years you have to take medicine, answer questions ("Is that poison Ivy?" "Is it contagious?"), and put on greasy lotion.

Something my mom did, that always made it easier it that she contasntkly was looking up and hearing ways for skin. That made it a million times better.

I hope your daughters feel well, and hope this helped you in some way.

          =)
