Ed Cowan, Australia's rookie batsman, has pushed the International Cricket Council to make the Decision Review System (DRS) mandatory for each and every international game.
The debutant got an awful decision in the first innings of the Test match, and if the use of DRS was being implemented in the series, then he would have not gone back to the pavilion.
Ed Cowan played beautifully for his 68 runs, and he was looking set to get a hundred on his debut, before the controversial decision sent him on his way.
He was adjudged caught behind of the bowling off http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RD-Shah-c2298 Ashwin but the replays clearly showed he did not edge the ball.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942 was also a victim of a bad umpiring decision. He was adjudged caught-behind, while the replays clearly showed that the ball had brushed his sleeve, and not the bat. He could not challenge the decision due to the absence of DRS.
Board of Control for Cricket in India is the biggest opponent of the review system, and Cowan wants the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 to urge the Indian governing body to make use of the available technology.
"As someone who loves their cricket and who has watched a lot of cricket, I just don’t understand why it can’t be handed down by the ICC (International Cricket Council) to be uniform in all games. Momentum went against us because of it. But that`s the game
and we`ll take the good with the bad," Fox Sports quoted Cowan, as saying.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 suffered too, as many Leg Before Wicket (LBW) appeals by the Indians were turned down by the umpires, and the replays showed they would have gone on to hit the stumps.
Despite getting off to a great start, the Australian side collapsed on 333 in the first innings of the Melbourne Cricket Ground Test. And the young opener cited Hussey’s dismissal as the turning point of the innings.
The 29-year-old added, "We felt we were half an hour away from really nailing them, grinding them into the dust. We get through that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379 spell unscathed and it`s a completely different complexion to the day`s play.”
At the end of the third day, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 and company were on 179 for eight in the second innings. The Aussies are leading by 230 runs at the moment, and anything near 300-mark will be a tough target to achieve for Team India.
