Ed De Gas geared up to win Trial Stakes
Ed De Gas is well-set to keep his unbeaten record intact by winning today’s (May 12) Betfred Derby Trial Stakes (Group 3) (Colts & Geldings). The high-stakes Class 1 contest will take place on the Lingfield track of 1 mile and 4 furlongs.
For the prize cheque of £34,026, the Rae Guest-trained bay colt will test his credentials against 7 rivals that include Cavaleiro, Goldoni, Halling’s Quest, Hazaz, Main Sequence, Rougemont and Shantaram.
Ed De Gas has excellently won each of the total three races of his career so far. After debuting with a classic victory in the Bet At Blue Square On Your Mobile Median Auction Maiden Stakes on February 17, 2012, the maverick young sprinter finished first
elegantly in each of two subsequent races on March 29 and April 25.
With cent percent success ratio to his name, the three-year-old runner looks to be in great form at the moment. Though he is not a favourite for the Trial Stakes but he will surely make a big impact today. If he manages to sustain his winning momentum, his
chances to thrive will be as high as 97 percent.
Almost equally talented to Ed De Gas is Main Sequence who has also won all the three races starts of his career so far. David Lanigan’s colt staged a stunning debut on September 15, 2011. The son of Aldebaran out of Ikat earned a favourite tag for each of
the two subsequent races.
Cavaleiro is too likely to perform well in the Stakes. The Marcus Tregoning-trained colt is on a hat-trick as he finished first marvellously in each of the last two outings of his career. Prior to this, the talented runner had gained a runner-up position.
He can prove to be a big threat for Ed De Gas.
In this situation, there is expected to be a tough tug of war today. Ed De Gas will have to fight hard in order thrive. The race will have many twists and turns Let us see who gains what. Good luck to all the contestants.
