Ed Dunlop believes Snow Fairy in greater shape than 2012 – Horseracing News
Ed Dunlop believes that his challenger Snow Fairy has trained really hard this season, thus she will be in better shape compared to the previous year.
Talking about his talented mare, Dunlop said, “It's no secret she has been very difficult to train, but judged on an electrifying piece of work she did at Sandown earlier this year I would suggest she could be even better this
year.”
He added, “She had a small setback shortly afterwards but is on the way back now. I have made entries for her in everything, but until she's ready to run we won't know which race will be her first. I'd think this could be her final
season. But to have had the horse of a lifetime I'm just so thankful we've had her so long.”
Snow Fairy made her first appearance in the sport back in 2009 and she was quite competitive back then. Despite being up against some extremely good stallions, she managed to finish third overall, which made her camp proud. From
then onwards, she continued gaining confidence and became a better performer.
There were a few ups and downs in her career, but she always fought back and ended up on top. However, she sustained an injury last year, which has prevented her from running in any race during 2013. This has been a major setback
for Dunlop, as he would have liked his trainee to at least represent him in a couple of competitions.
Earlier, it seemed that the six-year-old mare might not be able to get fit enough to run in any competition, but things have been moving on positively for her. Her recovery has been good, which has forced her camp to look into
a few options.
The Irish mare was victorious in her previous three races and would be expecting to end her career on a high. If she is in a good shape, only then should Dunlop look to send her into a major competition. Otherwise, the better thing
would be to retire her like this.
Snow Fairy has participated in a total of 21 races in her career, winning eight of them. Moreover, she finished as a runner up and in third place on four occasions each.
