Right now Jovo has 3 years left on his contract at 6.5 mil a season and is the highest paid player on the team right now. He's 32 now and will be 35 by the end of his contract with only 1 cup final appearance back in 1996 with the Panthers in his rookie season (Swept in 4 by the Avs).
The Coyotes haven't made the playoffs since 2002 and have only so much time now 3 SEASONS) to turn this team into a contender if there is any chance of keeping Jovo on the Yotes.
Personally, I think the Coyotes not only need to make the playoffs the next 3 seasons but each season the team must do better in the playoffs than the previous. That's a lot to ask considering this team only made it past the first round only once in the late 80's when they were the Jets.
Teams like Chicago, Wash, Pittsburgh could be in the running later on to help strengthen on D( Jovo, Campbell) or replace( Jovo, Gonchar, or Jovo replaces him). Or Detroit just keeps on winning Cups and Jovo is able to get on like M. Hossa just did!!
Agree or Disagree? Thoughts??
I figure to ask this since Jovo seems to be a player hardly mentioned here and in the NHL since he signed with the Yotes.
